Bio
[Hello, hello! Welcome to the OOC section of Izumi's info page! Seeing as there currently is no IC section, I think that the word "section" should be inapplicable, but I've decided to use it, anyway, and this new idea that has come to light to me will be completely ignored simply because I cannot press the arrow key a few times.

Regardless! Izumi Lio is, as you may or may not know, a character from one Tanemura Arina series, Full Moon wo Sagashite. The story stars a young girl named Mitsuki Kouyama, who tries to reach her dream of becoming a singer as she battles things that hold her back like throat cancer and dying in a year. Wow, that kind of sucks. One day, she meets a shinigami duo called Negi Ramen (delicious, and so is the soup) made up of cat-helmeted Takuto Kira and rabbit-eared Meroko Yui.

You see, I can't remember which is his first name when he's alive and is his first name after he dies, so I'm breaking the surname-given naming pattern. It's awesome. Possibly even without most of the vowels involved. But I digress.

And that's when Mitsuki finds out she's going to die. Yay. But this part of the story doesn't matter, anyway, as we're skipping to the interesting part.

Takuto hasn't sent a single soul in his entire two-year career as a shinigami. And, what with his getting attached to Mitsuki so quickly, when they still have the better part of a year to wait, she decided to do something kind of stupid on her part, maybe she should have called Suzu instead call an old friend, former shinigami partner, and heartbreaker (wow, that sounds kind of chinpira), Izumi. He and his new partner, the eccentric and entirely forgettable ghost-shaped thing named Jonathan, arrive on the scene, and Izumi agrees to help Meroko.

Naturally, this conniving puppy man has an ulterior motive. Long before her apparent obsession with Takuto, Meroko was in love with the second part of the shinigami duo Miru Meiku, Izumi. Or so she said (and about sixty times, too). Back then, Izumi was a different kind of cold. He was quiet and distant, hated being close to people. It's not that the idea of love was foreign to him--he lived in a happy, loving household once--but it was that the idea of love frightened him (expland l8r lol). So he just stayed silent after her confessions, every time, but the truth was that he was quickly falling for Meroko, too.

At this time, Takuto had just become a new shinigami. Thus, he needed a partner. Izumi had offered to be Takuto's partner--to break up Miru Meiku. Much to Meroko's dismay, naturally. At her protests, Izumi quickly gave in. He even kissed her, and gave her something she had been trying to coax him into for a long time now: a matching outfit. He told her to meet him omg somewhere i don't need to memorize the Underworld map gais.

When she arrived, however, she unknowingly became the new shinigami's partner.

He didn't leave her, so he made her leave him. It was safer that way. Maybe it would hurt her less. It didn't. Meroko still wears what Izumi gave her.

Izumi's not stupid. He knows that she at least still cares for him--he's observant that way. But Takuto became an obstacle. As afraid as he was, it was too hard to just run away. Takuto became his scapegoat--it was his fault Meroko was still his partner (since he hadn't sent a soul yet, he still needed to be babied as a shinigami, according to Izumi himself), it was his fault Meroko had already, in two years' time, confessed her love for him nearly twice as much as she had for Izumi.

Everything became Takuto's fault because Izumi would not be able to stand hating himself even more.

And then, Izumi fell for Mitsuki. Not in love, but in general. Mitsuki became one of the few who mattered. Maybe that was Takuto's fault, too. And Mitsuki was probably more observant than even Izumi, because she found Izumi out the day that they met. Not completely, of course. He had to tell her the rest himself.

He told her what a shinigami was, sure. He told her that shinigami were once human, like her. They lived once. But they stopped because they chose to stop. They committed suicide, and thus, they were punished. But he would still need to tell her about himself. The reason he is being punished.

And he did. It took a while, but he did.

On a rainy day, there was a kitten.

Nevermind, let's not draw this out too much.

Remember how Izumi had a happy life once? Well, that stopped sooner than his life did. Shinigami were supposed to forget these lives the moment they woke again in the Underworld. For some reason, Izumi still remembered most of his life already.

In this life, Izumi was six. His father had died a short while ago, and the bright and cheery air that followed his mother, Izumi Kana, had died with him. She had a constant fear in her eyes, and spent her days silently burning photographs that had her husband in them. Young Lio was much too afraid to approach her most of the time. When he had to, she would only scream at him, throw things, hit him, or all three.

Kana tried to move on. She really did. She went out sometimes, and when she did, men would occasionally come home with her. But one look at her child, Lio, and the man in question left, angrily yelling that she hadn't told him that she had a child. Kana would cry and cry, saying that everything would have been better had Lio not been born.

And Izumi believed her. He still believed her.

On good days, the two would usually go out shopping. Lio had plans for one of these days.

He separated from her and ran off. He found the railroad tracks, he ignored the lowering barrier, and he stopped and stared at his mother. And she responded with a smile.

For the longest time, Izumi had been convinced that what he wanted was to see her smile again. But, no, I'm not that selfless... He didn't remember enough to know otherwise. All he wanted was for her to call his name again. He wanted her to stop him.

Izumi had fallen for Mitsuki so easily because she reminded him of what his mother once was.

Much more recently, a little after Miru Meiku had broken up, the children's department, the department of shinigami that Izumi, Takuto, and Meroko worked in, were stuck with filing all of the paperwork for the next day's deaths. While he was working, however, Izumi noticed a familiar name on one of the papers.

It was "Izumi Kana". "Death by disease".

He kept it.

The next day, he went out and found her. She was smiling, but she was so thin and sickly... Izumi quickly sent her off.

It didn't do anything for him, though. He thought that, maybe, seeing her again could break the "curse" that her smile had left on him, but it didn't. He needed to hear his name again. If Izumi had just waited a little longer, maybe she could have broken it.

Soon after their rainy day, Izumi was separated from Mitsuki. He found himself in a city for "second chances", ironically what the girl had been trying to tell him what becoming a shinigami after death really was.]
